I Keep Getting Dirty Texts from Random Numbers and check what I did below. While spam messages encouraging individuals to buy specific items or meet new people in my region are something that almost all of us have experienced, I just became aware of something quite unusual. In contrast to the innocuous spam messages that I delete and never have to bother about, I am constantly getting filthy texts from various numbers, which renders banning them pointless because blocking one number does not stop the messages.
This is an issue for me since my children play with my phone, and while the wife will understand, I can’t imagine how this will affect my children. I researched how to correct this, so here is my post on how I fixed it in my situation and how you may do the same. Apex Legends Keeps Crashing fix is here if you want it.
I Keep getting Dirty Texts from Random Numbers, But Here’s What I Do:
The first thing we’d like to emphasize is that they are most likely fabricated figures. Software is used to deliver messages, and recipients see random numbers. These numbers are not always in service, which explains how easy it is for spammers to send you these messages on an ongoing basis. While blocking may assist, the likelihood that they will use the same number the following time is low, so blocking isn’t a long-term solution.
Please do not click on any links
I’m sure these fraudsters have a method of tracking who clicks on the links in the SMS, which you don’t want to do. Because many of them are quick links, you never know where they will take you when you click on them. When you receive SMS, permanently delete them.
Don’t Respond to Messages
Responding to the messages, such as clicking on links, may show that you are engaging with them, in which case you will continue to get the dirty text messages. If you do not respond to their message in any manner, they may assume you have an inactive phone number and remove you from their list of bulk text message recipients.
Messages from Unknown Numbers Should Be Blocked
While this may not be the ideal solution for everyone, banning messages from unknown numbers helps me get dirty texts from random numbers.
If you’re using an iPhone or another iOS device,
go to Settings >>
Messages >>
Message Filtering >>
Filter Unknown Senders >>
set it ON.
When I keep getting filthy SMS from unknown numbers on my Android smartphone, I open the messaging app (I use Google’s messaging app)
>> I choose the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the screen
>> On the following screen,
I select Settings >>
Then Activate Spam Protection. (Generally, you’ll need to wait a few days to see if this adjustment is adequate.)
Essentially, any unsaved number of messages you will be unable to deliver. This is one of the most effective remedies for many of us when we get dirty texts from random numbers.
Persistent Number Should Be Blocked and Reported as Spam
While this may not be a perfect solution, it has proven beneficial to me. After some time has passed, check to see if the digits are still recognizable. If you find that a handful of numbers are sending you nasty messages regularly, you can block them by pressing and holding the message, then selecting something like “Block Sender,” “Block,” or “Block Number.”
Following the banning of these numbers, we recommend contacting your carrier to complain about said numbers and getting dirty texts from random numbers. I’m sure they’ll be able to streamline where these messages come from since it’s frequently a small number of bad actors sending all of these messages.
Utilize an Anti-Spam App
While we advocate creating rules to prohibit messages from unknown numbers, we recognize that many of us use our phones for business and will almost certainly be getting texts from unknown numbers that we require. This is where anti-spam applications come in.
These applications allow you to specify particular restrictions, such as keywords, to ban any communications that match these. Truecaller, Robokiller, Nomorobo, and YouMail are among the applications available. When I keep getting dirty SMS from random numbers, I use anti-spam software to get rid of them.
Make use of SmartLimits (or something similar)
If I ever find myself in a position where I keep getting dirty messages from random numbers, a feature offered by AT&T called “Smart Limits” will come in handy. This bans specific numbers (typically numbers reported as spam by other users) and restricts access to inappropriate information for children, whether on the web or via text messages. You may check with your carrier to see if they provide something similar.
Mark as Spam
In many situations, marking any number that texts you nasty messages as spam should be enough. Yes, it does not halt the messages, but it is a bit step toward ending the spam pandemic.
